What to check on a MT-07
- Check the underside of the tail and exhaust for wheelie scrape marks.
- Check the oil pan for dents and the fork seals for leaks.
- Ask what exhaust and tuning changes have been made. Ask for the stock parts.
- Bounce test the front and rear suspension.
- Check the chain and sprockets: this bike is hard on chains if it has been ridden hard.
Do these on top of the standard walkaround. The free kit has the full list.
Safety recalls
Recalls are fixed free by a dealer, but only if someone took the bike in. Ask the seller for proof, or have a dealer check the VIN. You can also check a VIN yourself at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is it a good first bike?
Light and easy at low speed, but the torque lifts the front wheel easily. Fine for a careful new rider; take a riding course first.
